Schmidt named team MVP

Posted: Sunday, April 3, 2005 12:31 pm EDT

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. -- Junior defenseman and captain Bryan Schmidt (Bloomington, Minn.) was named as Merrimack's Most Valuable Player for 2004-05 at the team's annual banquet held on March 31 at the Sakowich Campus Center.

Senior forward and captain Steve Crusco (Waltham, Mass.) was presented with both the Fans' Award and the Francis J. "Buzz" Miller Unsung Hero Award, given to a player who exemplifies perseverance, enthusiasm, dedication and hard work throughout the season. The Coaches' Award went to senior defenseman Peter Hams (Cambridge, Mass.).

The Offensive Player of the Year was junior forward Matt Johnson (Eden Prairie, Minn.), while the Defensive Player of the Year went to sophomore defenseman Ryan Sullivan (Toronto, Ont.).

Freshman forward Jordan Fox (Kirkwood, Mo.) was the team's Rookie of the Year.

Robert Coppola, Director of Physical Plant, was the recipient of the Richard Britt Humanitarian Award, honoring an individual whose work behind the scenes may go unnoticed to the general public but is always noticed by those closest to the program.
